Garland from Andal temple taken to Tirupati

Garlands and silk ‘vasthrams’ being taken from Sri Andal (Nachiar) Temple at Srivilliputtur to Lord Venkatesa Perumal at Tirupathi on Saturday. | Photo Credit: SpecialArrangementSrivilliputturSpecially made garlands, a parrot made of betel leaves and silk ‘vasthrams’ were taken out on a procession from the famous Sri Andal (Nachiar) Temple here to be adorned to Lord Venkatesa Perumal at Tirupathi where the annual Brahmotsavam is under way, on Monday. Every year, on the fifth day of the Brahmotsavam, the garlands and other exclusive vasthrams from the Andal temple would be adorned during the Garuda seva and Mohini alangaram for urchavar and during the Thomala Seva for Moolavar at the Tirumala hills. A senior bhattar Rengarajan alias Ramesh from the temple has been entrusted with the task of carrying the garlands, which would be presented to the Lord Venkatesa Perumal on Monday, Fit Person K. Ravichandran and Executive Officer A. Illangovan told reporters. The function was marked by special pujas and rituals here on Saturday.
