more-in The Perumalpuram police here have registered a case against evangelist Mohan C. Lazarus for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Hindu deities. According to a complaint preferred by one Vinoth Kumar of Perumalpuram based on a video clip shared on social media, Mr. Mohan was reportedly making derogatory remarks against the Hindu deities. The comments, which were of in bad taste, would trigger rift between different religions and hence the police should take action against him by registering a case, the complainant demanded. Subsequently, the Perumalpuram police on Wednesday registered case against Mr. Mohan under Section 295 (A) of Indian Penal Code (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs). More cases Cases were also registered against Mr.Mohan at four police stations in Thoothukudi on Wednesday. Based on complaints lodged by Hindu Munnani and BJP functionaries, cases were filed under IPC Sections 295(A) (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 153(A) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) at Kovilpatti East and West police stations, while cases were filed under Section 295(A) alone at Kurumbur and Nazareth police stations.
