Remand prisoner allowed to attend son’s funeral

MADURAIThe Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Wednesday granted bail to a remand prisoner of Madurai Central Prison, accused in a murder case, to attend the funeral of his eldest son. Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan granted bail to Saravanan Ramalingam of Sivaganga district to perform the final rites of his son, who had met a watery grave. The court also exempted Saravanan Ramalingam from furnishing surety. He was directed to surrender before the police on October 8.
