A vegetable market, which was functioning on a private property belonging to a Muslim welfare society, was sealed by revenue authorities here on Wednesday. Armed with a High Court order that stated that the decision of the municipal authorities would be final in operating a market and its location, officials sealed the vegetable market. For several years, people from about 50 villages and small hamlets had been using the vegetable market. Farmers, who regularly visited the market on the Muslim Welfare Society land, said it was near and convenient. In an early morning operation, the officials, along with a posse of police personnel, closed down the market situated on Subramaniapuram Road here .
