more-in TIRUNELVELI A court here has awarded double life imprisonment to Madasamy, 27, of Alangulam under Sivanthipatti police station limits for abducting and murdering his pregnant wife. According to prosecution, Madasamy secretly married Thanga Revathi, 24, of the same area in a temple despite his parents’ opposition as the girl was from another community. After marrying her, Madasamy rented a house at Nanguneri. As the woman was pressing him to conduct a wedding reception and register the marriage, Madasamy took Thanga Revethi, who was pregnant, on his bike on the pretext of going to the hospital, and murdered her at Muththoor near Sivanthipatti on March 24, 2013. Principal District Judge Rajasekar on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to Madasamy for abducting his pregnant wife and another life imprisonment for murdering her, and imposed a fine of ? 4,000 on him. The two jail terms would, however, run concurrently.
