Madurai logs 1000+ Covid-19 cases for the sixth consecutive day, 7 fatalities

Madurai district reported 1,172 fresh Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the active cases past the 7000 mark to 7,076.

Madurai sees more than 1000 cases for the sixth day in a row, while it also recorded seven deaths in the last 24-hours

Besides Madurai, Chennai 7564, Chengalpet added 2,670 cases, Coimbatore 2,636, Kanyakumari 1,076, Thiruvallur 1,344 while the remaining districts clocked new infections in triple digits.

Tamil Nadu recorded 30,355 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, bringing the state`s tally to 14,68,864.

Chennai alone accounted for 7564 cases in the last 24-hours, pushing the city`s tally of total cases to 412505.

The cumulative death toll stands at 16,471 after 293 people succumbed to the virus on Wednesday in the state.

Currently, there are 1.7 lakh active cases of Covid-19 in the state.

19,508 Covid-19 patients receiving treatment at various hospitals recovered on Wednesday, taking the total number of recoveries to 12,79,658.

The Health department tested 2,43,10,931 samples till Tuesday (11 May) at the 267 testing facilities of the state.
