USIC set up in Alagappa University

The Alagappa University has established a state-of-the-art University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC) on its science campus here on Tuesday, giving a new impetus to research activities. Thyagarajan, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Madras, and Professor of Eminence and Dean (Research), Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai, declared open the facility, at a function. Prof. S. Subbiah, Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University, said sophisticated instruments had been made available under one roof at the USIC to take standard of the state-of-the-art of scientific research facilities at the university to new high. Alagappa University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Wipro GE Health Care Private limited, Bengaluru, for promotion of scientific research in the areas of healthcare, bio-informatics and bio-technology. Research scholars in the University and in the region could get access to the facility all the time, he said.
