The municipal engineer of Virudhunagar town, Paramasivam, was on Wednesday placed under suspension in connection with the death of five persons in the bus shelter collapse at Somanur in Coimbatore district on September 7. Ten persons were also injured in the roof collapse. However, sources here are not aware of Mr. Paramasivam’s role in the issue -- whether he was involved in the construction or subsequent maintenance of the shelter.
