more-in Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah on Tuesday said it is not just the BJP that wants a change in government in Karnataka but it is also people of the State who want a change as they are fed-up with Congress’ corruption and appeasement policies. Kicking off his coastal Karnataka tour from the temple town dedicated to the serpent God, Mr. Shah was addressing Navashakti Samavesh of booth-level party workers from Sullia Assembly Constituency at Kulkunda near Kukke Subrahmanya and later a booth-level workers from Bantwal, Puttur and Belthangady Assembly constituencies at Bantwal. There is nothing wrong in seeking accounts from the government as it is accountable to the people. While the UPA government had, under the 13th Finance Commission, released ? 88,583 crore to Karnataka, the NDA government has, under the 14th Finance Commission, released ? 2,19,506 crore so far. The Centre has also released over ? 80,000 crore to Karnataka under different heads, including roads, AMRUT, Swacch Bharat and bus procurement. Everyone is entitled to know what happened to such grants, Mr. Shah said and alleged that the amounts have reached the pockets of the powers that be in the State. Corruption has been ruling the roost in Karnataka with Congress MLAs and the Chief Minister facing corruption allegations, he said. Booth strategy The BJP’s success is mainly due to strong booth-level organisation and the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Shah said. “If you win a booth, you can win the constituency,” the party president exhorted booth members. BJP’s strategy of strengthening the party from the booth-level is based on minute planning and scientific approach. The BJP has won many States and is set to win Tripura adopting this strategy, he said. Mr. Shah urged party workers to ask people to vote for Lotus irrespective of the candidate, to strengthen the hands of Mr. Modi. “Psephologists are surprised over the way we are winning the elections; but we know it is only because of the party workers at the booth level,” he said. Sullia MLA S. Angara, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, party organising secretary B.L. Santhosh, district unit president Sanjeev Matandoor and others were present at Kukke Subrahmanya. State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa, BJP national general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao and others joined Mr. Shah at Bantwal.
