Deepak Rao’s family receives compensation

Mr. Shah handed over the cheque after visiting Rao’s house in Katipalla on his way to Udupi from Dakshina Kannada. BJP national president Amit Shah on Tuesday handed over the family members of slain BJP activist Deepak Rao a cheque for ?10 lakh. The family members have reportedly expressed their displeasure with the way Dakshina Kannada police are investigating the case. Inaugurating the convention, Mr. Shah said 20 RSS and BJP workers have been murdered in Karnataka. Following a short conversation, Mr. Taniyappa, Ms. Nailini and their daughter Mallika handed Mr. Shah a memorandum seeking a probe into the Madiwala murder by the National Investigation Agency.

While ?5 lakh was collected by members of BJP Mangaluru City North unit, the remaining ?5 lakh was given by former Mangaluru City North MLA J. Krishna Palemar. Mr. Shah handed over the cheque after visiting Rao’s house in Katipalla on his way to Udupi from Dakshina Kannada. Earlier, Mr. Shah met family members of the late Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh worker Sharath Madiwala during the BJP Navashakti convention of booth-level workers from Bantwal, Belthangady and Puttur Assembly constituenciesin B.C. Road. Madiwala, son of Taniyappa and Nalini, was hacked to death at his laundry near the busy B.C. Road junction in Bantwal on the night of July 7, 2017 . The murder occurred 15 days after murder of Social Democratic Party of India activist Ashraf Kalayi on the outskirts of the city. The Dakshina Kannada police arrested 10 persons, including prime accused Sharief, in connection with Madiwala’s murder. Following a short conversation, Mr. Taniyappa, Ms. Nailini and their daughter Mallika handed Mr. Shah a memorandum seeking a probe into the Madiwala murder by the National Investigation Agency. The family members have reportedly expressed their displeasure with the way Dakshina Kannada police are investigating the case. Inaugurating the convention, Mr. Shah said 20 RSS and BJP workers have been murdered in Karnataka. “The Congress government’s days are numbered and it was set to lose power in the State. I assure you that when our government comes to power, we will investigate who was behind these murders and ensure they are prosecuted.”
