Vipul Kumar takes charge as Police Commissioner

A 1999-batch IPS officer Vipul Kumar on Wednesday took charge as the new Mangaluru Police Commissioner. Mr. Kumar, 49, a native of Jehanabad in Bihar, has done M.Tech in Petroleum Engineering from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. Mr. Kumar started as the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Bailhongal Sub Division, Belagavi. These two officers were among a few officers transferred by the State Government following directions of the Election Commission. Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Kumar said an important task before him was to ensure peaceful conduct of the Assembly election in the region.

These two officers were among a few officers transferred by the State Government following directions of the Election Commission. Mr. Kumar, 49, a native of Jehanabad in Bihar, has done M.Tech in Petroleum Engineering from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. Before coming to IPS, he was the Executive Engineer in the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. Mr. Kumar started as the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Bailhongal Sub Division, Belagavi. He was the Inspector- General of Police (Southern Range) and also the Director of Karnataka Police Academy. Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Kumar said an important task before him was to ensure peaceful conduct of the Assembly election in the region.
