‘Adopt a village annually to promote cashewnut cultivation’

Hubballi, Director of Directorate of Cashewnut and Cocoa Development (DCCD), Kochi, on Monday suggested that the Directorate of Cashew Research (DCR), Puttur, adopt a village a year to promote cashewnut cultivation. If the DCR adopted a village for 2018-19 the DCCD would release ?15 lakh to it to promote cashewnut cultivation, he said. He explained about the use of pruning technique and varieties suitable for ultra high density planting and its role in enhancing the productivity. Brochures on ultra high density planting released at the foundation day of the Directorate of Cashew Research, Puttur, on Monday. Kannada and English pamphlets on ultra high density planting was released on the occasion.
