Mangaluru: Even as football fever has gripped the globe, three fans of the city have set up a state-of-the-art, open turf. Perfect Pass at Alake is a huge a hit among young players and enthusiasts. Corporates too have been booking the facility for their tournaments.It was launched a month ago by D Shreyas Kumar and D Nischal, nephews of Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade, along with Shravan Pai, son of leading textile merchant of Kulyadikars fame. The trio leased land from popular jewellery merchant SL Shet.“The three friends wondered why there was no facility for football enthusiasts in Mangaluru. Even as the World Cup fever gripped the city, they embarked on their mission to create a space where people could come and play football at their convenience. That’s how Perfect Pass was launched,” said facility manager Jeethesh Jain.“Playing here provides some relief from increasing job stress and negotiating traffic. Though there is a public ground, Nehru Maidan, it is difficult to enjoy a hassle-free game. Though Perfect Pass comes at a cost, it’s worth it. I fell thrice on the turf but did not get injured,” said Anish Shetty, a medical representative who plays here often.The 10,000 sqft turf, imported from France, is divided into two portions to simultaneously host two matches of five players a side . The two portions can be converted into a single field, making space for a nine-a-side game. Floodlights and easy access are the other key features. The facility is open from 6am to 11pm every day. Enthusiasts can even book time slots via an app.
