SUBRAHMANYA: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had to face the ire of elements on day two of his temple run on Tuesday as well. With heavy rains derailing his schedule on Monday that saw CM reach temple town of Dharmasthala nearly 4-hours behind schedule, Tuesday was no different. Kumaraswamy who was scheduled to reach this temple town in Sullia taluk at 6am, finally reached here at 10.40am, having left Dharamsthala at 7.20am.Swollen Kumaradhara overflowing the road on the shortest route from Dharmasthala to Kukke via Gundya meant his convoy had to take circuitous detour via Puttur and Jalsoor. Accompanied by his father and former PM H D Deve Gowda , mother Chenamma and wife Anita Kumaraswamy, the Karnataka CM called on Sri Vidyaprasanna Thirtha, seer of Samputa Sri Subrahmanya Math and held discussions with him.As per a vow taken by his family, the chief minister participated in a homa and later performed a thulbhara seve where he was weighed against raisins, rice and jaggery. Partymen accompanying the CM told TOI that the above items offered to the deity at the thulabhara was around 100-kgs. The CM later participated in mahamangalarathi, sought blessings from the presiding deity, where he prayed for the welfare of the state.Incidentally, CM late on Monday had told reporters that he was temple hopping also to ward off evil eyes cast on him. “One needs the grace of Lord Almighty to serve the state,” he had said. CM later left for Bengaluru via Charmady Ghat, SP B R Ravikanthegowda said. Since the closest route via Shirady Ghat and the alternative Sampaje was rendered inaccessible by landslips, the CM had to traverse via the Charmady Ghat, SP added.
