“As per information received by us, a Saudi national has been detained and questioned over Jyotsna’s death. Sources also say that a Saudi national has been detained by police and questioned intensively. At the same time, reports about the death have also been sent to the embassy. Mangaluru: Several people have been interrogated in connection with the mysterious death of nurse Hazel Jyotsna Mathias in Saudi Arabia, according to sources.Sources added that the people questioned so far include Jyotsna’s roommates, hostel mates, colleagues, HR managers, administrators and friends. They pointed out that Jyotsna was a strong woman, and that there was no possibility of her taking such an extreme step.

However, we are not sure what was his role, and why the police are questioning him,” a source added.Meanwhile, Ashwin Mathias, Jyotsna’s husband, speaking to TOI on recent developments, said almost 75 per cent of the formalities have been completed. “The person who was given power of attorney from our end has informed that the police have submitted the necessary documents to the court. At the same time, reports about the death have also been sent to the embassy. Once the court goes through the reports and approves them, arrangements will be made to send the mortal remains to India,” he said, adding that even documents on the investigation too will be dispatched along with it.It’s a long wait for familyA month has passed since the mysterious death of Jyotsna, and it’s a long wait for her family in India, who want to see her for one last time. “We are having sleepless days from the past month. The ordeal that we are going through shouldn’t be faced by anyone,” expressed the victim’s father, Robert Quadros.Ashwin said he is hopeful that the mortal remains will reach Mangaluru in another 10 days. The offices in Saudi Arabia will be shut due to Bakrid vacations soon.Jyotsna was working in Al Miqua General Hospital in Abha province, Jeddah, from the last six years. Her last conversation with her family members and husband was on July 19. Two days later, her family received the shocking news that she was no more.It is alleged that she committed suicide, but her family has categorically denied that theory. They pointed out that Jyotsna was a strong woman, and that there was no possibility of her taking such an extreme step.
