Mangaluru: Cops nab robbers, seize looted gold worth Rs 8.5 lakh

Police recovered two cows, valued at Rs 8,000, and vehicle valued at Rs 4 lakh. Seizing this opportunity, the accused Muhammad Salman and Tanvir snatched her bag and fled the scene. Police who were on rounds at Pattadamoole in Edamangala, Sullia, grew suspicious of a pickup plying from Marduradka and directed the vehicle to stop. A case was accordingly registered in Surathkal police station . While two fled the vehicle following direction given, police detained the driver, Radhakrishna K who named one of the accused as Mohammed alias Maimu while failing to name the other.

MANGALURU: Surathkal police on Tuesday nabbed two persons who had robbed a bag containing jewellery from a woman who had gone for a stroll on a beach at Mukka on August 26.The woman, whom police refused to identify citing her gender, had come to her relatives’ house at Chokkabettu in Surathkal. She had gone to the beach on her way back when two youths accosted and decamped with her jewellery.Deputy commissioner of police (Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashanth stated that the victim had kept the jewellery she had worn in her handbag while going to the beach. Seizing this opportunity, the accused Muhammad Salman and Tanvir snatched her bag and fled the scene. A case was accordingly registered in Surathkal police station . Police nabbed them near Kallappu at Thokkottu and recovered 336.64 grams of gold worth Rs 8.5 lakh from their possession.Police also seized a motorcycle worth Rs 50000 from Muhammad Salman, 26, resident of CPC Compound, Kudroli and a car worth Rs 2.50 lakh from Muhammad Hussain Tanvir, 28, resident of Kaikamba-B C Road in Bantwal taluk.Dakshina Kannada district police on Tuesday intercepted a pickup vehicle in Sullia taluk and rescued two cows that were being trafficked. Police who were on rounds at Pattadamoole in Edamangala, Sullia, grew suspicious of a pickup plying from Marduradka and directed the vehicle to stop. While two fled the vehicle following direction given, police detained the driver, Radhakrishna K who named one of the accused as Mohammed alias Maimu while failing to name the other.
