In bid to hunt dog, leopard drowns in well

UDUPI: In a bid to hunt a dog, a leopard drowned in a well in Siriyara village, Haradi. Swimmers lifted the body around 9.15am.A postmortem was done on the three-year-old male leopard. The dog, which also fell into the well, was rescued.The leopard entered the house of Navin Shetty. After finding the dog and leopard, they put a basket into the well. The dog was lifted to safety.After being informed, forest department personnel at Shankara Narayana reached the house around 7.45am.

Around 4am on Saturday, family members woke up to the barking of their dog. After finding the dog and leopard, they put a basket into the well. The dog was lifted to safety.After being informed, forest department personnel at Shankara Narayana reached the house around 7.45am. By that time, the big cat had drowned. Swimmers lifted the body around 9.15am.A postmortem was done on the three-year-old male leopard.
