KSRTC, private buses stoned as bandh is in progress in Mangaluru

Private city bus operators, who expressed their moral support for the bandh call, did not operate buses since morning. Even KSRTC buses from Mangaluru and Puttur divisions were off the road. Stoning of a private bus and a KSRTC bus each in the city and in Bantwal led to stoppage of movement of private and KSRTC buses since morning on account of Bharath Bandh called by the ruling Congress, Janata Dal and other parties. Police said a private bus coming to the city from Bengaluru was stoned near a hotel opposite to Balmatta Post Office around 6 a.m. Similarly, a KSRTC bus coming to the city from Bengaluru was stoned on Bantwal bypass road around 6.30 a.m reportedly by two men on a motorcycle.
