Karnataka: Youth ends life after being slapped by girl’s father

After abusing him verbally in front of other colleagues, he went ahead and slapped him with his footwear.Dejected over this insult, he consumed poison on Saturday evening. However, there was strong opposition from the girl’s father and he wanted to end their relationship. Irked with this, the father of the girl arrived at the victim’s shop recently. Suvarna had fallen in love with a girl and they were in touch from the past one year. He was employed in an interior shop in Manipal.

MANGALURU/UDUPI: The feeling of being insulted after being hit by a girl’s father over their relationship drove a youth into ending his life by consuming rat poison here in Udupi.Sooraj Suvarna, 22, a resident of Puttur, allegedly consumed poison on Saturday after which he was admitted to Kasturba Hospital in a critical condition and died on Monday after failing to respond to treatment.SP Laxman Nimbargi said the youth allegedly committed suicide near Vishnumoorthi temple in Kemtoor. He was employed in an interior shop in Manipal. Suvarna had fallen in love with a girl and they were in touch from the past one year. However, there was strong opposition from the girl’s father and he wanted to end their relationship. However, the relationship continued. Irked with this, the father of the girl arrived at the victim’s shop recently. After abusing him verbally in front of other colleagues, he went ahead and slapped him with his footwear.Dejected over this insult, he consumed poison on Saturday evening.
