Four arrested for woman’s death due to electrocution

All the accused in the case were arrested near Mundkur on Tuesday.They also seized two cars, three cellphones and Rs 35,000 from the accused . After two days, John again picked up the body and dumped it near a forest in Kanthavara.Police said their investigation later revealed that the woman’s death was due to electrocution. It was installed at the property belonging to Shivarama Shetty. All of them have been remanded in 14 days of judicial custody. Mangaluru/Udupi: The Udupi district police have arrested four people in connection with the death of an elderly woman , and for destruction of evidence The arrested are John Claudius, 57, a resident of Putthige; Padmanabha Salian, 42, a resident of Sachheripete; Sunil, 30, a resident of Alangarugudde and Shivarama Shetty, 80, a resident of Posral in Mundkur.The victim Girija Poojary, a resident of Mundkur, was killed after she came in contact with a live electric wire fence laid for killing a wild boar .

Police said the woman had gone missing on September 14, and her family members had lodged a missing complaint at Karkala Rural police station.The accused, who learnt that the woman was electrocuted due to the fence laid by them, took her body with the help of Shivarama Shetty, and dumped it into an old well, which was close to the house of John Claudius. After two days, John again picked up the body and dumped it near a forest in Kanthavara.Police said their investigation later revealed that the woman’s death was due to electrocution.
