Art exhibition inaugurated

Gokuldas Nayak, Joint Commissioner, Mangaluru City Corporation, inaugurated an exhibition of students of Trivarna Art Centre at the RSB Bhavan here on Friday. Inaugurating the exhibition, Mr. Nayak said that during any natural disaster, people immediately rushed to help those in distress by donating funds, clothes and other essential items. Exhibitions such as the present one were a step in the right direction in helping the affected people, Mr. Nayak said. As many as 39 students from Manipal and Kundapur have exhibited their paintings at the exhibition. The proceeds from the sales of the paintings at the exhibition would go to the relief fund for those affected by the recent floods in Kodagu district.

As many as 39 students from Manipal and Kundapur have exhibited their paintings at the exhibition. It will remain open from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. till Sunday. Inaugurating the exhibition, Mr. Nayak said that during any natural disaster, people immediately rushed to help those in distress by donating funds, clothes and other essential items. During the recent floods in Kerala and Kodagu, the Mangaluru City Corporation received lots of items from the people, so much so that there was shortage of place to store it. But as days passed, those affected were forgotten. However, it was after the initial rescue phase, that the tough phase of rehabilitation came. It was then that the affected persons, who had lost their homes, fields, properties and documents required help. Exhibitions such as the present one were a step in the right direction in helping the affected people, Mr. Nayak said.
