MANGALURU: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), which has the responsibility to check the use of flex banners and hoardings, itself has violated the rules. Despite the ban, the MCC has placed a huge flex hoarding right in front of its office.Paradoxically, the flex hoarding lauds the city's achievement for bagging "Best City Under Solid Waste Management in India 2018" award under the Swachh Survekshan 2018. Recently, the Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat was also in the soup after using flex banners for the promotion of Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018.The hoarding put up by the MCC thanks Mangaloreans for making "Mangaluru City stand first in quality of life (in India) and 48th in the world in 2018". I will check with other departments to see who put up flex board there and will take action," she said.TOI had highlighted similar instances where gram panchayats used flex banners to promote Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018 campaign. "It was not brought to my notice before installing the hoarding.
