Karnataka, Goa Directorate NCC emerge champions

Mangaluru: Karnataka, Goa Directorate NCC has been crowned champion in the All India Nau Sainik Camp-2018 (AINSC-2018) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC). A total 600 cadets from 17 NCC directorates from across the country participated in the competition.Brigadier D M Purvimath, VSM, deputy director general, NCC, Karnataka and Goa, appreciated the cadets for their zeal and standard of training. “We intend to ensure that at least 20 of our cadets feature in the big event,” Nautiyal said. The best candidates selected by a panel in the state capital will qualify to participate in the Republic Day event in New Delhi. The event was organised at Karwar from October 14-22.The AINSC camp is held to test the acumen of the naval cadets of the NCC in various professional competitions like ship modelling, boat pulling, semaphore and firing, among others.

He also reminded the cadets about the need to continue to live up to the motto of NCC, “Unity and Discipline”.Rear Admiral K J Kumar, VSM, Flag Officer Karwar, was the chief guest for the closing ceremony. Karnataka and Goa Directorate was followed by Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar Directorate in second position and Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Directorate in third position.Meanwhile, a girls’ team of cadets trained by the Mangaluru group has come second in the All India Thal Sainik Camp held in Tumakuru recently, said Anil Nautiyal, group commander.Aiming at R-Day eventA contingent of 77 cadets from the division are currently undergoing training for cultural events as well as drills for an intergroup competition to be held in Bengaluru.
