Temple priest ends life

Mangaluru: A retired temple priest allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well in Vittal , early in the morning on Tuesday.The victim has been identified as Vasudeva Kedilaya , 84, a local resident, who earlier served as a priest at Vittla’s Sri Panchalingeswara Temple. As a result, he stopped offering puja at the temple, and was only serving teertham to devotees.An unnatural death case was registered at the Vittal police station. The victim jumped into a well in the compound of his house. The reason for him for taking the extreme step is not known, but police suspect that he was suffering from various ailments from the past couple of years. According to police, the incident took place around 5am.
