Man convicted for using fake email id, forged signature of APJ Kalam

He was arrested in 2009, for creating a fake email id and forging Kalam’s signature.According to investigations, Niranjan, using a cyber café situated in Karavali Bypass, created a fake email id-apj_abdul_kalam@in.com, and later also forged Kalam’s signature.He sent a recommendation letter using the forged signature to ‘American Engineering Organisation’ to award him the Hoover Award. Mangaluru: The Udupi additional JMFC court awarded three years rigours imprisonment and fined a miscreant, who created a fake email ID in the name of former President A P J Abdul Kalam, and forged his signature.The convicted person is Niranjan Chidananda Bhat , a resident of Moodabettu in Kodavoor village. He will also pay a fine of Rs 7,000. He also sent a mail to D Yogi Goswami of New York, and asked to send project details regarding a 50 MW solar thermal plant.Based on intelligence inputs, he was arrested for defaming the reputation of Dr Kalam.The court, after scrutinising various witnesses, pronounced him guilty under Indian Penal Code sections 419, 465, 468, 469, 471 and awarded him three years of rigorous imprisonment.
