Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City police have arrested two people for attempting to cheat people with foreign currency , here on Friday.The arrested are Mohammed Saleem, 33 and Nasrul Issam, 56, both residents of West Bengal . The police, explaining their modus operandi, said that duo had come in contact with complainant Ibrahim Akheel and told him that they will give him dirhams from the United Arab Emirates in exchange for Indian rupees. On January 16, Akheel met the duo near Ramakanti Talkies with Rs 7 lakh. The duo showed him the dirhams packed in a newspaper bundle, but only seven notes were visible, and Akheel grew suspicious. He later asked them to open the entire bundle to which they protested and fled from the spot. He filed at case at the North police station, after which the accused were arrested on Friday.
