Murder case: Man gets one year rigorous imprisonment

MANGALURU: The principal district and sessions court on Friday awarded one-year rigorous imprisonment to a man for the death of his former colleague.Judge Kadloor Satyanarayanacharya held Prashanth , a resident of Kolnadu in Bantwal taluk, guilty under IPC Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). On reaching the place and seeing his condition, the relatives rushed him to the district government Wenlock Hospital where he was declared brought dead. Sathish, the other accused, is absconding. He became unconscious and was thrown out of the place.Baby, in the police complaint, had alleged that Sathish had called up her relatives asking them to take Sadashiva home. Incidentally, he had quit his job a month prior to this incident.An altercation ensued between Prashanth and Sadashiva, which later turned physical, and the latter was beaten up with bamboo sticks.

He and the deceased Sadashiva were employed at a food joint in Adyar on the outskirts on Mangaluru.In the complaint filed at the Kankanady police station by Baby, the victim’s sister, Prashanth and the owner of the food joint, Sathish Shetty, were accused of murdering Sadashiva.As per the complaint, on March 2, 2017, Sathish and Prashanth had beaten up Sadashiva after they found him sleeping in the restaurant. Incidentally, he had quit his job a month prior to this incident.An altercation ensued between Prashanth and Sadashiva, which later turned physical, and the latter was beaten up with bamboo sticks.
