Dharmasthala: Splendour of Bahubali’s court was recreated in its full glory at Panchamaha Vaibhava organised as part of Mahamastakabhisheka rituals at Panchamaha Vaibhav mantap, here on Thursday. Panchamaha Vaibhava chronicles historical exchanges between brothers—Bharath and Bahubali—and the day’s enactment sees Dakshinank, emissary of King Bharath , arrive at the court of his brother Bahubali at Paudanapura with a ring.The cultural richness of Bahubali’s kingdom depicted on 10 stages set up across the mantap leaves the emissary in awe. The emissary, after exchanging pleasantries with Bahubali, reveals the true purpose of his visit (of asking him to surrender to his brother) and hands over the ring given by King Bharath. However, Bahubali refuses to part with the kingdom given to him by his father and surrender to his brother as suggested to him by the emissary.Even as the armies of the two brothers gear up for an armed conflict, the brothers taking note of the enormous loss of lives that a war brings forth in its wake, decided to settle the issue in a non-violent manner. The brothers decide on ‘drishti yuddha’, ‘jalayuddha’ and ‘mallayuddha’ to settle the issue and Bahubali defeats Bharath in all three forms of ‘war’. The change of mind comes around when Bahubali is on the verge of winning the ‘mallayuddha’.The scene depicts the moral turpitude that Bahubali undergoes just as he is about to throw down his brother Bharath. Realising that he is about to harm his elder brother, Bahubali stops the war within, that it is not worth defeating his brother for land and personal pride. Bahubali then decides to renounce his world trappings of power and heads to the forest to carry out penance. The finale of the saga will be unravelled at the conclusion on Friday.Mahamastakabhisheka from tomorrowThe anointment rituals of the 39-foot-tall monolith of Bahubali will get under way at Ratnagiri on Saturday. A grand agrodhaka procession will be taken out from Sri Chandranath Swami basadi at 6.30am and the anointment process led by D Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, and his family, will commence at the auspicious meena lagna time of 8.45am. The family will perform 1008 Kalashabhisheka on this occasion.FelicitationThe organising committee felicitated Jinasena Bhattaraka of Nandini Math, Kolhapur, to mark his maiden visit to the kshetra after his ascension as the head of the math. Heggade advised the newly-anointed head to work for organising the Jain community and also spread the religious message among believers. Heggade also assured his full support to the math. The seer of the math invited Heggade to come over and visit the math.Roof collapseThe roof of the structure where the Panchmaha Vaibhava rituals were to take place collapsed on Thursday, but there were no casualties as there was no one present under it at the time. However, a few people were injured due to the incident.
