Mangalore Bicycle Club pays tribute to Pulwama martyrs; senior member Raheem Teekay

MANGALURU: Mangalore Bicycle Club (MbC) responded to ‘Black Thursday’ and loss of Raheem Teekay, their senior member, the next day by cycling hard on Sunday. Teekay, a senior Beary writer and avid cyclist, who was a member of MbC passed about owing to illness on Friday. MbC commemorated these solemn events on Sunday.At 6.30am, the cyclists assembled at Kadri War Memorial, paid their tributes by offering candles and placing flowers at the memorial. It was their small way of thanking the Indian Armed Forces for giving up their lives to protect all Indians. The country lost 44 members of CRPF to one of the worst terror attacks on security forces on Indian soil on Thursday.

Dijaraj Nair, joint secretary of the club, shared his message on the sacrifices that "our soldiers keep the nation secure", telling all to give them due respect.After this there was a short ride through the favourite cycling route of Teekay ‘Sir’ - War Memorial to Thannirbhavi and then Bengre. Teekay was an entrepreneur, writer and poet who has been actively involved in activities of MbC.He was instrumental in revoking the proposal by the Centre to ban cyclists from main roads through the petition he launched on change.org.
