PP Chaudhary to inaugurate national level moot court competition on Feb 23

MANGALURU: Vivekananda Law College, Puttur is organizing its maiden all India national level moot court competition from February 22. Justice B V Nagarathna, judge, Karnataka High Court will be the chief guest. Justices B Veerappa and Mohammad Nawaz, judges, Karnataka High Court and K M Natraj, additional solicitor-general of India will be the guests of honour. There will be four rounds – preliminary, quarter finals, semi-finals and finals. K M Krishna Bhat, secretary, Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Puttur will preside over the valedictory function.

MANGALURU: Vivekananda Law College, Puttur is organizing its maiden all India national level moot court competition from February 22. P P Chaudhary, minister of state for law and justice on February 23 will inaugurate the 3-day event which is nothing but replica of real court, where students are given a hypothetical case and submit their arguments before a panel of judges. Justice N Nagaresh, judge, Kerala HC will inaugurate the moot society.B K Ravindra, director, legal studies, Vivekananda Law College told reporters on Thursday that as on date 34 teams from all over India have confirmed their participation in this mega event. There will be four rounds – preliminary, quarter finals, semi-finals and finals. While senior advocates of Puttur Bar Association will judge the prelims, senior advocates of Karnataka High Court will judge the quarter finals and semi-finals, he said.Sitting judges of Supreme Court and Karnataka and Kerala High Courts will judge the finals, he said, adding the benefit of this moot court is students get an opportunity to present their advocacy skills, court manners and procedures, clarity of thought and expression, brevity and interpretation of law. The preliminary round I and II and quarter-finals will be held on February 22 and 23, and semi-finals and finals on February 24.Justice S Abdul Nazeer, judge, Supreme Court will deliver the valedictory address. Justice B V Nagarathna, judge, Karnataka High Court will be the chief guest. Justices B Veerappa and Mohammad Nawaz, judges, Karnataka High Court and K M Natraj, additional solicitor-general of India will be the guests of honour. K M Krishna Bhat, secretary, Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Puttur will preside over the valedictory function.
