BJP’s general election campaign on overdrive

While the bike rallies will traverse up to 150km in rural areas, in cities the party workers will cover around 30-60km, he said adding in Karnataka, around 2.5 lakh motorcycles will be seen in action on that day. Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district unit of BJP has moved its general election campaign on an overdrive even before the Election Commission announced its calendar of event for the same.Having launched the ‘Mera Parivar BJP Parivar’ campaign as devised by national party chief Amit Shah on February 12, the district unit now is focussing on three other key programmes that Shah has prescribed to ensure a return to power at the hustings.Jithendra Kottari, spokesperson of DK BJP unit, said the ‘Mera Parivar BJP Parivar’ campaign involving more than 5 crore BJP workers across India now has an online component urging party workers to tweet selfies with party flag on their houses and also post the same using #meraparivarbhajapaparivar on Facebook. This campaign will be intensified across the state on February 24 involving public contact of more than 75 lakh households.On February 26, BJP will launch ‘Kamal Jyothi Sankalp’ programme where workers, well-wishers and beneficiaries of centrally sponsored schemes will join at one place in each booth across Karnataka and light lamps. This programme will also be observed nationwide at 7pm on that day. Rangolis will be drawn and lamps lit in the form of a Lotus lit, he said, adding around 8 lakh party workers in Karnataka will be part of this programme.February 28 will see BJP attempt an entry into Guinness Book of World Records when PM Narendra Modi will hold simultaneous interaction with booth-level workers at 11am.
