MANGALURU: The booklet on ‘Rafale scam’ and other perceived acts of corruption of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government that Congress released here on Saturday is a desperate attempt by the grand old party to buck the ‘pro-incumbency’ wave pervading across India, Jithendra Kottari, BJP district unit spokesperson said. The booklet on Rafale and other scams that NDA government is perceived to have committed is a well-crafted web of lies, Kottari said.Noting that BJP was surprised and also pitied Congress for releasing booklet of ‘such a big expose’ at district headquarters than at national level, Kottari said Congress high command has chosen its district unit to sell a sinking ship to the electorate. Congress has no issue worth the while to take on pro-incumbency wave that BJP is riding on, and booklet is a desperate attempt to project an ‘anti-incumbency wave’ when there is none, he said.“The booklet is a desperate attempt by AICC chief Rahul Gandhi to flog the Rafale issue to keep his party’s fortunes alive in the upcoming general elections,” Kottari said, adding the ‘trailer’ (meaning the booklet) will turn out to be bigger flop than the ‘Rafale film’ that Rahul is hoping to show to the electorate.“It is easy to wake a person who is asleep than try to awaken a person who is pretending to be asleep,” Kottari said of this attempt. The widespread response to the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign that Prime Minister Modi has kick-started on Twitter too has unsettled the Congress and its sole intent now is to try and mislead the electorate with such booklets, he said.“The electorate will answer your attempts when the district goes to the polls on April 18,” Kottari said, adding the party machinery has already activated its rank and file to ensure success of the party candidate.
