MANGALURU: Days after a message on social media went viral claiming that a girl from the minority community was poisoned by being fed a laddu by her classmates , police clarified that it is far from the truth.A few days ago, a message on social media went viral that a girl from the minority community, who topped the class, and was a student of a girl’s college in Sullia, was poisoned by her own classmates, belonging to another religion, as they were not happy with her academic performance. The incident took place a few days ago. “Soon after taking a bite, she vomited, and a rumour spread that the laddu was poisoned. However, in reality she was allergic to certain sweets, and she had an allergic reaction after being fed the laddu. Since it is election time, some miscreants spread rumours and blew the issue out of proportion,” a police officer said.The police officer, quoting the girl’s father , said that he has sent a clarification on social media that his daughter was allergic to certain sweets, and as a result she vomited the laddu offered to her. “The posts on social media that she was poisoned are not true. She is hale and hearty,” stated the girl’s father.
