MANGALURU: A budding Coastalwood director was killed after the car he was driving rammed into a tree near Moodukonaje, late in the night on Thursday.Haris Konajekallu, 30, was a resident of Konajekallu in Moodbidri taluk. According to police, Haris was directing Tulu film ‘Atidonji Dina,’ and shooting was in progress for the film. From the past two weeks, shooting was held at various places in and around Moodbidri. Late in the evening on Thursday, after completion of a shoot, he had gone to drop the film producer, who stays in Shirtady. While returning, Harish lost control over the wheel near Moodukonaje, and rammed his vehicle into a tree beside the road. He was killed on the spot due to severe injuries.Haris had worked as an assistant director in Tulu films and wished to direct a film on his own. Three years ago, he had directed a Tulu film, however, it was stopped midway due to a financial crisis. Recently, he started shooting for his new Tulu film ‘Atidonji Dina’, which commenced in the first week of March. Sources said more than 50% of the shoot for the film was completed, which has leading artistes from the Tulu industry working in it.
