St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) initiatives, hosted the Virtual Launch of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC)

St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), to strengthen its Clean and Green initiatives  hosted the Virtual Launch of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Student Chapter on 24th September 2020. SJEC-IGBC Student Chapter is intended to inspire, instill and imbibe ‘Green’ approach for a sustainable tomorrow. The launch was held on the occasion of   World Green Building Week 2020.

SJEC-IGBC Student Chapter is intended to inspire, instill and imbibe ‘Green’ approach for a sustainable tomorrow. The launch was held on the occasion of   World Green Building Week 2020.

Dr Yajnheswaran B, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering welcomed the participants and emphasized the need for the green education programme.  Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC briefed about the green initiatives taken up by SJEC to promote sustainable technology for the betterment of human life and called upon the students to acquire more knowledge on green building concepts.

Mr D B Mehta in his address emphasized the achievements of IGBC in green footprint and the scope of green construction. He also spoke about the opportunities for engineering students to take up IGBC accredited professional programs.


Ms Rekha Mavulati presented a technical talk on “Green Building Concepts and Green Education Programme”. During the talk, the participants were introduced to different modules on the green education programme and concepts of the green building were discussed.

Mr Prashant Kurdekar, Faculty Coordinator of SJEC-IGBC Student Chapter coordinated the virtual event.
