The protest was organized outside the Mangaluru City Corporation building near the Mahatma Gandhi statue. During the protest, the party workers, led by District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai demanded the resignation of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress and Dakshina Kannada Mahila Congress organized a candle march condemning the Hathras rape incident that has shaken the nation.

Mithun Rai slammed the Yogi Adityanath led government in Uttar Pradesh and added that his party in the leadership of Rahul Gandhi will win the battle against the Hindutva forces that have run ruckus in the country.

Mithun also took a dig at Adityanath and added that he is better called as “Ayogi Adityanath” as “Yogi” doesn’t go well with his actions. He also added that it was tragic that the body of the rape victim was cremated without the consent of her family. “It is shameful that such an incident has happened in our country.

Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were stopped from meeting the family. This is shameful. The war has now begun, this is a war against the UP government and this will not end until we defeat them. Yogi must resign and he must apologize in media” Mithun said.

The party workers also raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hailed Rahul Gandhi as their leader.
