Mangalore - Mumbai Rail Line Blocked after Landslide

  • | Friday | 16th July, 2021

The Konkan railway track is blocked as a massive land piece has fallen in the line.

A massive landslide occurred on Friday between Mangalore Junction and Thokur railway station in Karnataka. The landslide has disturbed the train movement on the Konkan rail line. The landslip took place near the tunnel on the Kulshekar-Padil stretch.

According to Indian Railways officials, the incident will affect the movement of all trains on the Konkan route till the mud is removed from the tracks.

Mangaluru-Thokur section comes under the purview of the Southern Railway and Konkan Railway starts from Thokur.

It was reported that a preventive retainer wall had been constructed near the track by the Railways but the massive landslip forced the mud to cover the tracks. The Railways has already deployed workers to clear the tracks.

It is believed that the landslip was caused by heavy rains that have been witnessed in the region over the past few days.
