Customs on Saturday arrested a 21-year-old resident of Manjeshwar for being in illegal possession of foreign currency valued ? 69.74 lakh, at the international airport. This was the highest among the seizure of foreign currency by Customs, the officials said. The officials said that the foreign currency was found in the checked-in baggage of Askar. They found him carrying currency of 10 countries, including U.S. Dollar, Russian Roubles, Euros and Pound Sterling. According to Customs officials, following a tip-off they checked the baggage of Mohammed Askar, who was to leave here by the Air India Express flight to Dubai.
