Mangaluru International Airport to offer e-Visa facility from April

MANGALURU: Come April, Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) will offer e-Visa Services to flyers. With this, MIA will become second airport in state after Kempegowda International Airport offer this much needed facility.Confirming this to TOI, J T Radhakrishna, director, MIA said Electronic Visa facility will be operational from April 1. Daily, airport receives seven international flights including three flying from Dubai and per airport handles 5,000 (In/outbound) passengers including domestic flyers. "The airport handles more than 40 international flight arrivals and as well departures per week. "From here onwards, they can directly land at MIA and carry out the process.

This will largely benefit foreigners with tourist, medical, and business visa holders. "The MIA has created two exclusive counters for e-visa holding travellers at the terminal building as fingerprints of such travellers would have to be taken," he said adding it advisable that travellers carry a printout of the e-visa as the clearance process becomes faster, rather than keeping the same on electronic devices such as tab or smartphone.Earlier, those foreign national visiting Coastal Karnataka with e-visa had to land in Mumbai or Bengaluru for approval. "From here onwards, they can directly land at MIA and carry out the process."The airport handles more than 40 international flight arrivals and as well departures per week. The flights are being operated to Dubai, Dammam, Doha, Bahrain, Kuwait, Muscat and Abu Dhabi. Daily, airport receives seven international flights including three flying from Dubai and per airport handles 5,000 (In/outbound) passengers including domestic flyers.
