Udupi: Sri Rama Sene leader Pramod Muthalik's interference in the mutt's activity is an insult to the people of Udupi. People like him who object to the iftar organized at Sri Krishna Mutt led by Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, conspire against religious peace and harmony in the district, said district Youth Congress president Vishwas Amin."If the Sri Rama Sene organizes a protest on July 2, Youth Congress members will oppose them and organize a counter-protest supporting the Pejawar seer, with police permission. If they have any plan to gherao Krishna Mutt, we will stand up to protect the temple," Amin said."Generalizing the entire Muslim community as cow slaughterers is wrong. Also, humans have the right to their choice of food. No one can question them. When it comes to communal harmony, the Pejawar swami is an inspiration to the entire country and also a protector of Hindu religion. He has brought in revolutionary changes in society by visiting Dalit colonies and organizing an iftar meet. The Muslim community has always been supportive of Krishna Mutt," said Amin.Reacting to Sri Rama Sene leaders' plan to protest against the iftar, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt said, "Let's wait and see. As I don't have any idea how they are going to protest, I cannot comment on the issue. I have not done anything wrong by conducting an iftar and have clearly conveyed my opinion to Pramod Muthalik. He was not convinced, so let's wait and see."On BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj's statement that Ram Mandir Muhoortham be held at Udupi, the Pejawar seer clarified on Tuesday that Sakshi Maharaj has visited Krishna mutt. "As he spoke in Hindi, part of his speech was not clear to me. He also spoke about construction of the Ram Mandir. During my third Paryaya, I had organized a religious convention where we passed a resolution to enter Sri Rama Mandir by breaking the locks. However, then PM Rajiv Gandhi opened the locks for all," the swami added.Even if Sakshi Maharaj told me about finalizing the date for the temple's construction in Ayodhya during the convention, he cannot take the decision alone. There is a committee to take a decision on that. There is a constitution, law, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to decide on it. However there will be discussion on the Ram Mandir issue during the convention, the seer added.
