Sulibele backs Pejawar seer on ‘Souharda Upahara Koota’ issue

Speaking to media persons after holding talks with the Pejawar seer in the backdrop of the controversy, Mr. Sulibele said that the seer had been fighting for the cause of Hindutva for many decades.

more-in Chakravarthy Sulibele, founder of Yuva Brigade, said on Tuesday that those voicing their opposition against the Pejawar seer for holding the ‘Souharda Upahara Koota,’ held at the Annabrahma Dining Hall here for a gathering of Muslims to break their fast on June 24, should support the seer instead. Speaking to media persons after holding talks with the Pejawar seer in the backdrop of the controversy, Mr. Sulibele said that the seer had been fighting for the cause of Hindutva for many decades. He was at the forefront in ensuring various reforms were made. “Whatever steps the seer took, he took it with a vision. Hence, we are always behind the seer,” he said. Mr. Sulibele said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken of ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikaas,’ which meant taking everyone along on the path to development. The step taken by the Pejawar seer could be seen as a step in that direction. The members of the Muslim community too should come forward and accept this vision, he said. Video message Meanwhile, in the backdrop of receiving several calls on the issue of ‘Souharda Koota,’ the Pejawar seer recorded a 12 minute 40 second video message and released it on social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp. In the clip, the seer explained that he had conducted the ‘Souharda Upahara Koota’ to promote harmony between Hindu and Muslim communities. He also pointed out amicable relations between the two communities since the times of Sri Madhwacharya, the propounder of the Dwaita philosophy. Meanwhile, Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt told press persons on Monday night that he did not want to say anything about the protest being planned by the Sri Rama Sene on July 2 against the Souharda Upahara Koota. Responding to the queries, the Pejawar seer said: “I do not want to make any comments about the protest. I am doing my work quietly. Let us see what happens.” The seer said that the founder of Sri Rama Sene, Pramod Muthalik, had met him on June 26. He had spent a long time explaining to him about the ‘Souharda Upahara Koota.’ “But Mr. Muthalik was not convinced. I have explained my opinion and my position to him,” the seer said.
