more-in A 32-year-old man, who beat up his parents for opening the door late, committed suicide by jumping into a well at Bijoor village near Byndoor in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district on Saturday. According to the Byndoor police, Raghava Poojary, 32, had gone to Dharmasthala on August 10. He returned home around 5 a.m. He then knocked at the door of the house. But his parents were late in opening the door. Enraged, he took a wooden rod and first beat his father, Manju Poojary. When his mother, Heriakka, came to rescue her husband, Raghava Poojary also hit her. Since he had hit them quite severely, they fell down and there was blood in the house. The police suspect that out of the guilt that he had beaten his parents, Raghava Poojary then jumped into the well near his house and committed suicide sometime between 5 a.m. and 8.30 a.m. Raghava Poojary’s sister later took her parents to Kundapur and got them admitted to the Government Hospital. Heriakka has suffered a head injury. Meanwhile, family members, who did not know that Raghava Poojary had committed suicide, searched for him and found his body floating in the well. A case has been registered, the police said.
