MANGALURU: Karnataka Biotechnology and Information Technology Services has awarded the biotechnology skill enhancement programme (BiSEP) grant to Yenepoya University to conduct a one-year PG diploma in multi-omics technology. Yenepoya University is one among 18-institutions in Karnataka that have been selected for this programme.Arun A B, director, Yenepoya Research Centre said university is the only centre to offer BiSEP course in multi-omics technology as it currently has state-of-the-art facilities and scientists who are experts in cutting edge technologies to undertake such training. In addition to omics technologies, candidates need to take up industry oriented electives which industry experts will teach. Multi-omics is a highly interdisciplinary subject that includes genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and proteogenomics. Candidates will be selected for BiSEP based on their performance in Karnataka Biotechnology Aptitude Test (KBAT) that government will conduct in September.Students enrolled under BiSEP will get fellowship of Rs 10000 per month during the course and 50% tuition fee waiver for students from Karnataka.
