The stage is set for Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Sri Krishna Leelotsava (popularly known as ‘Vittal Pindi’) celebrations here on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Wooden ‘gopuras’ being constructed for ‘mosaru kudike’ for the Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations in Udupi on Tuesday. The Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple will be the centre of attraction during both festivals. The exponent of Dwaita philosophy Sri Madhwacharya installed the idol of Lord Krishna at the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple here about 800 years ago. According to Raghuram Acharya, Dewan of Pejawar Mutt, the event will be held in three sections: zero to three years – Muddu Krishna competition, three to five years – Balakrishna competition; and five to eight years – Kishore Krishna competition.
