Speaking after inaugurating annual Dakshina Kannada conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), Mr. Gajanur said that fundamentalist and capital groups speak about religion and nationalism and make people forget real issues namely unemployment and malnutrition. “It is such a sorry state that a person, who possesses all the skills necessary for a job, is not blaming the State for its failure to get him a job. He blames himself rather than the State,” he said and added that such a mindset was because of the influence of both the capitalist and fundamentalist forces. The young activists are hooked up on the social media to counter this campaign by the divisive forces and thus, are getting disconnected from the ground situation. Mr. Gajanur said that activists should speak aloud on problems in their surroundings. “We need to manufacture protests to counter the fundamentalist and capitalist forces,” he said. DYFI State president Muneer Katipalla said that the DYFI will intensify its fight against commercialisation of education and privatisation of health sector. With their fight they are carrying forward the legacy of Koti-Chennayya, the two revered spirits, who fought for the voiceless and downtrodden.
