Mobile registration kit for Aadhaar to be working in three days

The government has provided a mobile registration kit for enrolling people under Aadhaar in Mangaluru taluk. He said that the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada has written to the government to provide one more mobile registration kit. Replying to questions of Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat members at the taluk panchayat meeting here on Wednesday, he said that the mobile kit would help reduce the waiting period for Aadhaar registration. Mr. Guruprasad said that the government has now closed down the Aadhaar registration centres managed by private parties following apprehensions of people on security issues. But there are not enough Aadhaar registration centres in the taluk forcing the people to wait for long.

Guruprasad. Replying to questions of Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat members at the taluk panchayat meeting here on Wednesday, he said that the mobile kit would help reduce the waiting period for Aadhaar registration. He said that the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada has written to the government to provide one more mobile registration kit. In addition, the Deputy Commissioner has written to sanction one each Aadhaar registration centre to each Nada Kacheris, Hoblis and in the Taluk Office in addition to the existing ones. Earlier, raising the subject, Sridhar Neerumarga said that the government has been insisting on Aadhaar number to avail of every government benefit. People will have to provide Aadhaar number to get ration card. They would have to link the number with bank accounts. But there are not enough Aadhaar registration centres in the taluk forcing the people to wait for long. He said that people are finding it difficult to get the corrections in Aadhaar done due to absence of enough registration centres. Another member said that in Mulki Nada Kacheri people have been forced to wait for the next three months to get tokens for registering to Aadhaar. The Tahsildar said that though the government is insisting on Aadhaar number to avail of its benefits, it has not denied the people the facilities for not providing the numbers. Mr. Guruprasad said that the government has now closed down the Aadhaar registration centres managed by private parties following apprehensions of people on security issues. Now, they were being managed by the government itself. He said that he would call a meeting of officials on Saturday to sort out issues relating to finalising sites for disposing of solid waste under gram panchayats in the taluk. Mohammed Monu, president of the panchayat, presided over the meeting.
