Meerut: An inspector with the anti-corruption branch was arrested along with five others after police busted a sex racket run from a massage parlour in the city’s Shastri Nagar area. Three among the five are women and the other two have been identified as Ashok Sharma and Amjad (who goes by his first name).A case was registered under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Suppression) Act at Medical police station. The arrests were made after Meerut police, acting on a tip-off, raided the massage parlour on Wednesday evening. Police said the parlour was run in the premises of one Amitabh Bhardwaj, who claims to be a Supreme Court lawyer and is currently absconding."We have learnt that Bhardwaj was aware of the sex racket. He tried to intimidate police officers over phone, claiming to be a Supreme Court lawyer. We are trying to arrest him," said Maan Singh Chauhan, SP (city).Meanwhile, when reporters visited the police station, they found the arrested inspector chatting with cops over tea and refreshments. A video of the incident went viral on social media. When asked, the SP (city) said, “I don't know about the development yet. We will probe it after watching the video.”The accused inspector, according to police, was a regular client at the parlour.
