Man who faked own ‘murder’ 10 yrs ago nabbed after accused finds him

But Sharma’s cover was blown recently when the man accused of his murder got a whiff of his existence and informed the local police.According to police records, Sharma was murdered and his charred body was found in a forest near Manshagadi Nagliya village on December 27, 2007.Sharma had an old rivalry with his neighbours Amit Kumar and his family. Soon after discovery of the body, which was charred beyond recognition, Sharma’s father and uncle filed a case of murder against Kumar.He was arrested and sent to jail. Later, though, a compromise was reached between the two families and Kumar came out of the jail after serving three months. By then all the witnesses had also turned hostile.A decade passed by and villagers forgot Sharma. But because he was officially "dead", Sharma remained under disguise and occasionally visited his family in the night. However, on Wednesday, his decade-long cover was blown when Kumar saw an recognized him. He rushed to Kotwali Dehat police station and cops in turn raided the house and nabbed Sharma.A case under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating ), 203 (false information) and 182 (causing public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against Sharma, his father and uncle.“Sharma has been arrested. His father Raj Kumar Sharma and uncle Hariom Sharma are still on the run,” said Tapeshwar Sagar, station house officer (SHO), of Kotwali Dehat police station.However, police in Bulandshahr are now in a Catch 22 situation as they are clueless about the identity of the person found murdered way back on December 27, 2007.
