Told to donate kidney, UP woman commits suicide

MEERUT: In a shocking case, a 28-year-old woman committed suicide after her husband allegedly pressured her to donate a kidney. Meanwhile, her parents have claimed that she was being pressured by her in-laws to donate a kidney to her sister-in-law. Teams have been pressed into action to trace the accused,” Ranvijay Singh, superintendent of police (city), said.The deceased’s parents claimed that their daughter’s sister-in-law was advised a kidney transplant. Ever since, her in-laws were pressuring her to donate a kidney to her. “This led to frequent altercations between the couple with the deceased not conceding to their demand,” a relative said.

The body of the deceased woman is yet to be recovered with police claiming that her husband and in-laws have gone into hiding after the incident.The deceased’s parents claimed that they got a call from Vikas Kumar claiming that their daughter Annu died after consuming some poisonous substance on Tuesday. Suspecting foul play, her parents immediately informed police and landed at the residence of their daughter’s in-laws in Meerut's TP Nagar area on Wednesday.However, the house was found locked while the in-laws along with the body were nowhere to be found.An FIR under section 201 (disappearance of evidence) and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC has been lodged against the deceased’s husband and in-laws at the TP Nagar police station in Meerut.“The husband and in-laws have most likely gone into hiding after disposing of the woman’s body somewhere. Meanwhile, her parents have claimed that she was being pressured by her in-laws to donate a kidney to her sister-in-law.
