Over 3 lakh take constable recruitment exam in 122 centres of Meerut zone

Meerut: The exam to recruit 41,000 police constables was conducted on Monday across 122 centres in nine districts of Meerut zone in which as many as 3.22 lakh candidates appeared on the first day. On Tuesday, remaining candidates will appear for the paper.The recruitment test was conducted amid heavy security arrangements and under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. Senior police officials in Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts said that examination was conducted peacefully.Meanwhile, there were allegations of paper leak in some parts of Meerut. Elaborate security arrangements, including CCTV cameras, were there at all the centres. STF has also urged people to submit documents and material related to the alleged paper leak.

In Bulandshahr, police arrested a man after a tip-off that he was about to appear as a “solver” at a centre in Moradabad.During his questioning, Umesh Chaudhary said that he was supposed to appear on behalf of another candidate, police claimed. Admit cards of four candidates, two Aaadhaar cards and a mobile phone were found from his possession, they said.A team of ADG (Meerut zone) Prashant Kumar, DM Anil Dhingra and SSP Rajesh Pandey carried out checks at more than 12 centres in Meerut.“Candidates were thoroughly frisked at entry gates. Elaborate security arrangements, including CCTV cameras, were there at all the centres. Senior police and administrative officials were deployed to ensure that exams are conducted peacefully,” said Sanjeev Vajpayee, Meerut nodal officer, also SP (Traffic).In Bijnor, more than 20,000 aspirants appeared for examinations at 25 centres. Senior police officials in Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts said that examination was conducted peacefully.Meanwhile, there were allegations of paper leak in some parts of Meerut. However, administration has rejected the claims. But, police have ordered a verification of documents which were claimed to be the leaked copy of question papers. STF has also urged people to submit documents and material related to the alleged paper leak.
